	Given with slides and props or huge picture blow-ups.
	Includes the history of Colorado’s women.

Birth of a book

	Given with many props such as color separations, different sizes of signatures as they came off the press, etc.
	Describes how hard covers are made.
	Discusses marketing of the book.

Each of the talks is modified for the audience from kindergarten to adult.

Youth Talks

Vivian Sheldon Epstein has spoken to:

	Individual classes, kindergartners to 9th graders-30 at a time
	An entire school assembly-200 students
	500 adults and young people at one time

Keeping the Audience Interested

Vivian Sheldon Epstein likes to involve the audience and create interaction by asking questions which require a show of hands, yes or no, true or false. The audience listens because they know they must make a decision.

...Vivian Sheldon Epstein did an excellent job relating to the children and the teachers were very enthusiastic about her performance as well. Vivian had an incredible amount of energy and enthusiasm. She understood the fact that children learn best when they are active participants, and taught the children through discovery methods such as questioning. She also brought visuals to show the children, and left huge print outs of pictures from her book with each class.

Ms. Epstein’s speech was particularly interesting because it taught the children all about the writing, printing, and publishing process. In addition, Vivian stressed the importance of perseverance when you have a goal. She inspired many students to write, and also made them more sensitive to women’s issues.
